Abstract. On the basis of historical and economic data, the article shows the difference between the economic reform and the economic experiment, examines the essence of the concept of an economic experiment, features from the point of view of dialectics. A new classification criterion is proposed - by the number of reproduction, and it is also proposed to combine all types of economic experiments into three groups. It is concluded that the study of the economic experiment is promising as a way of carrying out new, demanded, necessary innovations in the economic system and using it as an instrument of cognition through the prism of dialectics.
